Patreon is a Crowdfunding platform that allows artists and other visual creators to make money for their work; whether it be to buy supplies, support their living expenses or just contribute to their monthly incomes.
For the ‘Patron’, or person who wants to donate, there are choices of ‘tiers’ by which you can choose to pay. For example, you will find some artists offer $5 tiers at the bottom of the spectrum, going up in price as high as they want. Each tier offers different perks, for example a $5 tier might give you a postcard of the artist’s work delivered to your door, or a digital download with a % off an item from their online shop each month.
I am in the process of developing my Patreon Site. I intend to offer low-price tiers initially- by gifting digital downloads of inspiring and empowering images, uplifting poetry, illustrated quotes and small gift items like greetings cards and wallet cards.
In the future, I’d love to offer online Art classes with a focus on creative therapy. This will be offered to the higher paying tiers and will require me to spend a lot more time creating and planning, but will be very valuable and empowering to many people.
